"I BELIEVE . . ." Discussion Group

One of the most important guiding principles behind NLV is that all ideas and beliefs belong to a realm where Freedom reigns.  Each individual's thoughts and beliefs and their free expression, are no one else's business really unless the person having them chooses to share them  Finding opportunities to organize and express what one believes, "coming to terms" with the way we see things,  is sometimes helpful to both oneself and to others.

When someone starts a message with the words, "I believe..", we can respond in several ways. We can leave the area, physically or emotionally, try to change the subject, or only appear to really listen. This is our own prerogative. We can also chose and learn to listen.

Just because someone reveals his or her own beliefs, we are under no obligation to change our own. Simply taking in another's perspective, and impartially examining it without jumping to conclusions, stereotyping, or making critical judgment opens us to understand other's beliefs, possibly broadening our own.  Too often we pre-maturely draw lines of exclusion, letting our own beliefs alienate us from others.

Until a matter is 'known', all of us are dependent on beliefs and assumptions which offer us provisional frameworks upon which to approach life.  It is not usually helpful to try to deprive others of their own beliefs.  If you are open to hearing other's beliefs, and sharing your own, please feel free to use this loosely monitored forum.

POST your own contribution to the "I Believe..." Discussion group.

I believe that God is a light at the center of everything, and that we are all sparks of that light, driven spiraling off into the darkness. We spend our life - or lifetimes, if you believe, as I do, in reincarnation - trying to get back to be One with The Light, and to light the way for others. Eventually, we're all going to dance with God, it's just going to take some of us longer to learn the steps.

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and for the "ultimate good". You might have trouble figuring out what that "good" actually *is*, but that's where faith and trust come into play.

I believe that life is like a spiritual ladder - and whether we progress up that ladder several rungs in a lifetime, or *down* a few, depends not so much on what happens to us in our lives, but in how we choose to deal with it - and with others... and what we choose to learn, or take away from the situation.

I believe that prayer has power. I believe that positive thinking has power. I believe that a simple smile can have an amazing impact, as can a kind gesture, or an unexpected loving word.

I believe that love, and joy are stronger than hurt and fear.

I believe that God doesn't care *how* you believe, so much as *that* you believe. I don't think He cares *who* you love, but *that* you love, and that you realize that you are part of something greater than yourself, and that your actions have consequences that reverberate beyond known time and space.

I believe I'm done spouting off, for the moment ;-) Thanks for giving me the chance to formulate and crystallize my thoughts...

Light and laughter to you ~ Deb

MY MISSION STATEMENT:

To wake up each day with the joy of the Lord & a song in my heart, regardless of my circumstances or what the day might bring.

To declutter my life & home to where it takes a minimal amount of time for upkeep.

To have quality rather than quantity people as my circle of friends.
May my home be a place of love & warmth that family & friends want to gather here.

May I live my Christian walk in such a way that others will want to imitate it.
May I always have things for my hands to do & may I always think of others first.

May I always be able to grow or make most of my basic needs.
Bloom where you are planted!

Live life simply, that others may simply live!

Let me live in a house by the side of the road & be a friend to man!

The Bible - Proverbs 30: 8&9
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say who is the Lord?
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.

I have had a disconcerting feeling the last few weeks. Lately I have had dreams of a woman who is not my wife. In the dreams my wife is no longer my wife, she just isn’t there. And I am with this other person in some relationship. I am not sure what is going on because I don’t know anyone personally that looks like this woman.
And just this last Thanksgiving I saw this woman’s face clearly as my wife and I were driving to a Thanksgiving dinner. I saw her eyes, her expressions it was disconcerting at the time, and it still is.

My wife apparently knew when it happened because she said she felt something as well. And today, a friend at work who claims to be a “sensitive” told me she can feel a large change coming, not good or bad, just a change that will affect my life.

My wife is a brunette and the image I see is a blonde woman with blue eyes. But that’s all I know. . I am not sure what to make of this and hope that someone can shed some light on this for me. If anyone can help me with this please do.

Hello, Dina,

I too have had enough dreams that came true in minute detail to convince me that asleep I can reach a state not limited as to 'time', a state perhaps a part of every 'experience' we have, though one in which we are not always aware.  When it happens I am aware "I have dreamed this",  there seems to be a type of self-awareness, a watcher, common in both the 'dream' and as  the events 'in the future', fall out.  I have a hard time describing this.

Perhaps there is at root, not two experiences, the 'dream' and then later, the events, though one seems to occur while in bed, asleep, and the other, awake and active in the world.  I have heard it said we dream everything before it occurs, only seldom do we take enough consciousness into sleep to recall it upon awakening. Feelings of 'deja vu' can be recalls of dreams as they fall out 'again'. I think 'precognitive dreams' can serve to show us that things are not really what they seem on the surface, and that underneath it all, even what occurs in the wakened state is a Dream of sorts. Many wise men teach this.

It is still useful to think of everything in a dream as being parts of oneself, for example, the car. Sometimes a car can represent in 'dream feeling' the body, that which carries us and moves us around. The appearance and type of car can reflect how we are viewing ourselves. Going downhill without us, out of our control could depict a sense of our body going it's own way without our conscious control, diving downhill at that. Could be a hint to keep in closer charge of bodily activities? Or to make sure the parking brake on the car is in good order! No one can really interpret a dream for another, everything having it's own personal associations and meanings.

One could learn from the feelings one has going to visit a boyfriend, carrying a bag (history) having to search for his house, both in the dream, and in 'real life'. Is this a pleasant experience or a fearful one? Or what else? Even this wakened life is a dream of sorts, and we can learn about ourselves from the elements of this Big Dream as well.

Thanks for sharing your dreams. They do not seem weird to me, and I am only laughing with you at how surprising (and helpful when we listen to them) such dreams can be. jerry b

As a whole humanity is living in a dream world to think that we have developed a civilization.  We have instead developed a global technological infrastructure.  To qualify as a civilization, IMHO, we need to ACCOMPLISH, not talk about, the following: 1) Stop destroying the earth; 2) House all people; 3) Feed all people; 4) Stop war;  The closest any life forms on this planet that have come to this are the ants and the termites.  This illustrates the difference between a civilization and a technological infrastructure.  It is no good waiting, as some do, for benevolent aliens to "show us the way".  If we can't learn from these insects then we lack the will and have too much pride as a species to reform.  We have the planet to ourselves, we can make it anything we want.  What are the results of this golden opportunity: 1) Hundreds of millions of people go hungry, 2) Multi-national corporations exploiting the above, 3) Even in Western societies the working class are working so hard that they never get to know their own children, 4) Managers under so much pressure they need to take anti-depressant medication in order to enjoy the "good life".  Most people, myself included, are hurt little children trapped in a big body, compulsively driving ourselves into the ground in order to gain acceptance from a morally bankrupt social structure.  If this is the best we can do before the Earth is drained of resources then what nightmare awaits us when there is nothing more left to take.

I just wanted to share my Dreams and Visions. God has shown me many things. And they have come to past.

I was in a Elevator going down to hell. People got out but I didn't. I was heading to Heaven. The doors opened and there waiting for me was my Mom. I got out and we walked around Heaven. Heaven is so Beautiful. Like the Garden of Eden.

And there was the time I died. I saw Christ coming down from a Cloud. He's arms opened wide. He told me that it wasn't my time to go yet. Suddenly he breathed in me and gave me breath. I took a deep breath. I started to sing in the Spirit. (Meaning singing to him in tongues.)

So many dreams and visions. My husband asked me did I smell Flowers? I stopped singing and I asked him what kind, and he said Roses. See, when I was with Jesus, there was Red Roses around my feet. And he told me that he smelt Roses. He had told me things about my Family. And when I gave them the message, they think that I am crazy. They can't handle the truth. And ! what he tells me it happens.

He has given me revelations. And they have come true. I have been in Hell and even came face to face with Satan himself. And I have even seen Heaven, Even seen my Mom and talked to her. The end of time draws closer. We need to get it Right with the Lord. And with God. Keep looking up and watch for him. Amen (Rain40Bow@aol.com) I would love to share more with you, GBU

I dreamt that there was a lot of noise coming from outside around my house. I went to look out my window but saw no one. I was cooking chicken and you could smell it. I looked over to see what my husband was doing and he was sleeping on the couch. My kids where sleeping too. I thought about how nice the carpet looked, it was dark green. Just as I was putting the chicken on the table there was a knock at the door. I went to open it. A man was standing there with a loaf of uncut bread. I told him to come in. I looked at him for several minutes he smiled and asked if he could come in. I said yes. I was nervous. He said "thank you for inviting me into your home." I woke my husband up and my kids, and set the table as fast as I could. The man sat with us too. He talked and broke this bread and passed it around. My chicken was great & the bread was wonderful and the man had such a great sense of humor because I remember laughing. When everyone was finished eating the man said he had to leave. So I walked the man to the door. He turned to me and he said "Thank you for inviting me into your home." and then he left. This is the only dream I've ever had about Jesus.

Subject: Mother Ship?

My one and only 'space craft' dream :

I am in a very large, cigar shaped, metallic colored, 'Ship',
quietly whooshing through outer space. I am in the hallway with a man who is showing me around. In the course of the tour, we enter twelve huge compartments, one after another. In each room are men and women, all masters of different areas of life. They are intently, but friendlily, working on their projects which I understand are going to be installed when they arrive at the ship's destination.

There is a room with all manner of equipment, books and persons who understand all there is to know about agriculture and the culture of plants for food production and shelter.

Another room is filled with masters of medicine, health, and the living body. Another, concerned about social forms, groups and government.

One room (of which I now have the most vivid memory) is
a giant hall with a stage, live musicians and singers, and perhaps fifty dancers, male and female, all unclothed, with differently colored skin and race. They spontaneously dance the most incredibly beautiful motions, to most unimaginably beautiful music.

I am becoming over-whelmed, wondering to myself what am I doing here, and why is this guide taking the time to show all this to me, of all people. He explains my part in all this, and I awaken.

I was more than a little taken aback as I dressed and went to work a few minutes later as a $3.00/hr cabinet maker.

A footnote:

several months later my wife, baby son and
I traveled to the East Coast from Oregon, where I was at the time of the dream, to the home of some long-time friends in Virginia Beach. As soon as we arrived, Lennie said, "I have to tell you a dream I had last night. A huge silver, cigar shaped spaceship came down and crashed into our neighborhood."

She had not yet heard my dream. You haven't happened to come across any dazed, bruised, and lost masters of the universe, by any chance?  I have this idea .......     :-)

I will not leave you comfortless.... That scripture became alive to me. I was 35 years old with 4 young children at home and my husband age 37 was in open heart surgery. I was alone in the hospital waiting room and had been there for 5 hours. All of a sudden a trumpet sounded that brought me to attention. The ceilings of the hospital rolled back and I saw something much like an escalator and on it I saw my husband, perfectly whole and smiling, and Jesus standing beside him. The escalator slowly ascended until they were out of sight. The ceilings rolled back into place and the phone rang. It was the surgeon. He said "I am so sorry - we lost him". I will always be grateful that God allowed me to see him go and had shown me that he was completely well and happy. I was not left to the terrible message from the Dr. but was shown the good message first. That was so long ago and my children are grandparents now but I will never forget how good God was to me!

I could never ever wish my husband back in his earthly body. He is not dead. He just went on ahead of me because his earthly body broke and was no longer habitable. He has a new body, as will I very soon. Thanks be to God.

Instinct?
Urse

For a few years I have had this feeling that something unpleasant is going to happen. Something that will require survival. From then on I have been looking around trying to figure out what could possibly require the knowledge, specifically herbal cures and woods living to live. At times I've asked myself if I wasn't crazy wanting to know the more natural ways of collecting rain water and putting together shelter and growing foods. Especially since its such arcane knowledge and will have absolutely no practical application in the work area. I don't know what's driving me but I know it would be better to know what knowledge I do than not.

I do have a dream though. It starts with each person. To take only what they need to live and give back what they make. Ask your-self what do you REALLY need besides a shelter, food, and friendship? Everything else is excess to take up time.

An acquaintance of mine, after a period of prayer and fasting, had a very vivid dream one night. In the dream an angel told her she was about to be given 33 words, "The key to everything".   Upon awakening, she was told, she would remember them clearly, exactly as stated, and that she was to write them down along with the instructions to 'say aloud four times without interruption'. She was then to give them to the first person she met.

In the morning she awoke, wrote the words down, dressed, and went out of her apartment. She saw a man walking on the sidewalk across the street.  As she walked towards him, he also walked across the street towards her. When they met, he handed her a piece of paper as she handed him her own. They both opened the pages that read:

In Our Name of Jesus Thee Christ
We Command All Forces of Darkness
And All Unclean Spirits Out of Our Homes
And Out of Our Bodies
In Our Name of Jesus Thee Christ

Say aloud four times without interruption

They both had had the exact same dream, the same night, with the same instructions.

A dream of my own:

During a turbulent period of my life I had this dream:
I am being pulled on a moving, large, flat, bandwagon with fellow employees from a Mental Health Services Clinic. The wagon lurches heavily when it hits a bump, and I roll off onto the road. Tired and shaken, I crawl to the edge, pull myself up a hill, and sit leaning against a tree. I feel utterly discouraged and exhausted, and begin to pray anxiously "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus", my forehead furrowed and eye-lids tightly closed, straining to see Jesus, but failing.  I continue this for some time to no avail.  Finally I give up, and open my eyes.

Before me is a full panoramic view, on my right, a smog-covered, gray cityscape with skyscrapers, fume-spewing automobiles, and crowded sidewalks and thoroughfares. One of these streets leads out of the city, through residential sections, over a bridge into the country,  becoming a path that leads into a meadow in a green forest, with deer and other creatures, clear blue skies, and healthy air to breathe. A loud and melodious penetrating voice thunders .... "E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G".     I awaken.

A Time of Turmoil

Over twenty five years ago, I had a night dream in which a man explained that things were going to get more and more chaotic in about any quarter one to which one could attend.   As he described these dire events, I saw them occur as if I were there. If such economic, social, and natural calamities do happen, it will not be a surprise to me.  Fortunately there is still a new day ahead each morning, and a place to lie down peacefully each night, at least for me. This is already not so for millions of persons. I feel uncomfortable, knowing I have not done all I could have done in the past with what I have. I pray to see clearer, and be what I can be, in order to act more productively.

The man in the dream emphasized  that it was completely up to those of us who understand what is occurring whether or not there will  be human life remaining on earth  beyond this time of chaos close at hand.  The events leading up to the culminating catastrophes, and whether or not anyone survives is strictly a matter of the human choices we have made and are making, he said.  They are not to be taken as punishment from God, but of our own doing and choice. Persons understanding what is occurring must do what they can and know to do to see that as many as possible survive.
